I had been into MP3s since 1996, and had bought a CD burner in January 2000. So the idea of being able to play MP3s back on a DVD player was important. At the time, there were only three brands of players that offered MP3 playback; Aiwa, Apex, and Sampo.

I knew about the Apex AD-600A player, but could not find one at Circuit City before they were "fixed". I really thought that Apex would be gone within a year (I was wrong) and Sampo players were just not sold in the DC area. So by default, I ended up with the Aiwa.

In the two years I have had the Aiwa XD-DV370, it has worked great. The picture quality is very good on my 27" TV. I have yet to play a VCD yet. CD Audio playback works well, ...
